Google Street View Project Suspended in India

Google's global mapping project faced a major setback when objections were raised from police on security grounds, in the southern Indian city of Bangalore. Google has to stopped collecting images for its Street View service following an order from the police.

The authorities are saying they are reviewing the matter and expect to sort it out soon. "We can confirm that we received a letter from the Commissioner of Police regarding Street View. We are currently reviewing it and have stopped our cars until we have a chance to answer any questions or concerns the police have," Google spokesperson said.

Police in Bangalore said they had security concerns and that Bangalore was a "highly sensitive" area.

Google had launched its Street View service in India last month and had begin collecting images of streets by driving across the city in specially designed cars and tricycles possessing high resolution cameras on top of the vehicle.

Google data collection has caused concern in numerous countries earlier also. Last year Google came under probe from several European nations following its Street View vehicles inadvertently collected email addresses, passwords and other personal information from Wi-Fi networks.

Amir Khan Says NO Even To National Awards !

Amir says NO to awards yet again and this time to National Awards, even though he considers them to be the most prestigious and highest honour that a film personality can aspire for in India.

The actor has already been boycotting popular awards since a while now. Amir has decided to skip National Awards from now on. 

The talks started a while back when Amir did not send "Peepli Live", his critically acclaimed crossover production of 2010, for consideration at the country's most honoured film awards.

Aamir has now declared that he has taken a policy decision to never enter any of his productions for any awards, including the National Awards. His decision has surprised everyone because his past productions "Lagaan" and "Taare Zameen Par" have bagged a number of awards at the prestigious platform.

Amir doesn't like the idea of applying for an award. He says, "If anyone wants to honour a genuine effort, they can take the initiative in doing so. To me, the biggest achievement is getting a good response from the audience."

Attorney Reema Bajaj charged with prostitution

Lawyer by day and lady of the night, Reema Bajaj, a 25 year old attractive attorney, was charged with prostitution, according to a report. 

She faces two misdemeanor and one felony counts, officials said. 

She pleaded not guilty to all the counts, Thursday in DeKalb County, according to her attorney David Camic of Aurora.

As reported by The Chicago Tribune, cops were investigating another case when they found evidence that linked Bajaj to prostitution that occurred in August 2010.

“Her involvement in prostitution was unearthed after police found her emails with a customer,” cops said.

According to the lieutenant, Bajaj offered her arrest at the DeKalb County Jail on May 31 after her arrest warrant was issued. Now, she has set after depositing submitting a 500 dollars cash bond.

 

Bajaj graduated from Northern Illinois University Law School in 2010 and was admitted to the bar in November.

La Tomatina - The Tomato Festival

La Tomatina or The Tomatina Festival is largest food fight festival that is held every year on the last Wednesday of August in the town of Bunol in the Valencia region of Spain. The participants throw tomatoes at each other and paint the whole town square red with tomato juice.

At around 10am festivities begin with the first event of the Tomatina, "palo jabón". The goal is to climb a greased pole with a ham on top. As this happens, the revellers work into a frenzy of singing and dancing whilst being showered in water from hoses. Once someone is able to drop the ham off the pole, the start signal for the tomato fight is given. The signal for the onset is at about 11 when a loud shot rings out, and the chaos begins.

The history of the festival dates back to 1950 when the council allowed the party to happen. Tomatina faced a lot of opposition from the officials and was banned a number of times before the final approval in 1959.

Since 1980 the City Council provides participants with tomatoes, each year a greater tonnage than the previous year. Visitors became attracted to the event and in 2002 it was declared a Fiesta of International Tourist Interest. In 2008 a soundtrack was created, the song of the Tomatina "Todo es del mismo color" created by the Bunyolense rock band "Malsujeto".

La Tomatina Festival will soon be seen in the “Ik Junoon (Paint it Red)” song of the upcoming Bollywood flick “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” featuring Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin. The movie is due to be released on July 15th 2011.
